Troubleshooting

This topic deals with some of the problems you may experience when installing the software needed to create JSP pages, when developing JSP pages and tag libraries, and when deploying JSP-based documentation sets.

Unable to unzip the Tomcat files

If you find that you are unable to unzip the contents of the Tomcat server zip file:

1. If your zip application does not allow you to view the contents of the .zip file without extracting them, download and install the free version of PowerDesk from http://www.mijenix.com/freesoftware.

2. View the contents of the .zip file, making sure that you can see the full path information for the files.

3. If your previous attempt(s) to extract the contents of the .zip file did not create the directory structure for the web server, use PowerDesk's ExplorerPlus utility to extract the contents of the .zip file. Unless you do something different than I do, you will still be unable to extract the contents of the .zip file, but it will create the directory structure for you.

4. Use ExplorerPlus to display the contents of the .zip file.

5. Extract the individual files into their corresponding installation directory. Make sure not to extract the non-named files.
